Will my juices taste good? Will my kids enjoy them?

All our juices have been carefully combined into a unique blend of delicious flavours. A lot of time and love went into creating these recipes. We believe we got them just right! We also had our kids try each one, and they loved them! If you are the kind of person who has never eaten fruits and vegetables before, you may find it takes some getting used to. Therefore, we have included our Daily Range (which holds a slightly higher ratio of fruit) and our Nutri Range (slightly higher in vegetables, or no fruit at all). If you are new to juicing, we suggest you start off with a juice from our Daily Range or begin with our NutriCleanse.

What makes your fresh juices unique/different from other pressed juices on the market?

At NutriVita, we believe that fresh and raw is best! We don’t use any artificial means (like High Pressure Pasteurization- HPP) to extend the shelf life of a products and all our ingredients are always fresh and raw fruits and vegetables. We use slow masticating and cold press machines that process the ingredients with less heat and oxygen exposure, thus ensuring maximum nutrient value in the juice.

What is the shelf life on your juices?

We freeze our juices immediately to ensure maximum nutrient retention and they can be kept frozen for up to 3 months, once defrosted consume within 3 days. Our freshly prepared products have an estimated shelf life of 3 – 5 days.

Will my juices arrive frozen?

Your order will be packed in a special insulated box and the contents will remain frozen until evening on the day of delivery.

How do I defrost my juice?

Make sure you allow enough time for your juice to defrost. It is suggested that you take your frozen juice out and leave it in the fridge the night before you want to drink it. If a juice / blend has not defrosted when you need it you can put in some tepid water to speed up the process.

Do you offer a delivery service? Which methods can I use to get my product?

Yes, we deliver nationwide via a trusted courier service provider. Depending on where you live, your order will arrive 5-7 working days from order payment. Orders received AFTER 12pm daily will be processed the following working day. Place an order here.

Do you have a minimum or maximum order quantity for online orders?

Our current minimum order amount for our online platform is R 350.00 (ex VAT). Free delivery for orders over R 2000.00 (ex VAT). Distributors/stockists will fall under relevant T’s and C’s. For more information on how to become a distributor/stockist, contact us here

If I am not satisfied with my product, will I get my money back?

100%. We stand by our products, their taste, and their benefits. If you’re unhappy, let us know. We’ll reimburse you and work to fix the problem.

It is important to assure that you have someone available to receive your juices at the specified delivery address. As the products are frozen goods, NutriVita cannot be held liable for goods arriving defrosted IF you were not able to receive your parcel when it arrives for the first time. If you know that you may not be able to receive at certain times, or if you need any specific delivery instructions please be sure to contact us directly on the day of your purchase (include your order reference number) so that we may organize efficient delivery to your door.

Do you offer off-site catering?

We offer bulk plant based catering to events in and around Durban. This includes birthday parties, private functions and weddings. Bookings can be made via email or by calling us.

I am diabetic, can I still drink juice?

If you are uncertain of the foods you may/may not consume it would be best for you to consult your doctor before any dietary changes including juicing.

How many calories are in your juices/smoothies?

Each of our juices nutritional content and calories have been calculated by our registered dietitian, Vicki Fischer. The nutritional content table for each individual juice can be found in its corresponding description on our website’s shop page.

I have an allergy to a specific fruit, vegetable or ingredient, can I still do a juice cleanse?

Our juices are made in an environment that uses nuts. We also use a variety of fruits and vegetables in our juices, which may come into contact with each other during the time of production. If you have an allergy to any of our ingredients, please consult your GP before having any of our juices. We strongly advise that you inform us of your allergy so that we may take extra precautions whilst preparing your order or advising you on alternatives available.

How long do the juices last for?

Our juices are freshly cold-pressed and immediately bottled to ensure a shelf life of up to 3 days when refrigerated. If immediately frozen, they will last up to three months, but must be consumed 3 – 5 days after they have defrosted. Each of our juices do have a best before date on them just in case.

What’s the difference between juicing and blending?

“Juicing” is the process of extracting the liquid held within the fibres of fruits and vegetables. By removing the insoluble fibre, a concentrated dose of nutrients can be readily absorbed by the body. You can include the nutritional value and a large variety of micronutrients equal to that of an entire meal in one juice. Juicing is the go-to option for those who have trouble digesting whole foods properly, or for those looking at a complete bodily re-boot.

When “blending” you consume everything you are blending, including the insoluble fibre. You generally include less of a variety / amount of ingredients and they have been known to keep you feeling fuller for slightly longer. Blending is popular with those who are already lean and wish to sustain the exercise they are doing, lose body fat and gain muscle mass.

Both juicing and blending have their benefits, which is why we offer a variety of beautiful cold-pressed juices, as well as superfood smoothies for you to enjoy!

What is a Superfood?

The term “superfood” is a fairly new term referring to foods that offer maximum nutritional benefits for minimal calories. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. No standard criteria or legal definitions classify any food as a superfood at this time. However, most superfoods are plant-based. Each one of our smoothies contain at least one superfood, making them not only super tasty, but super nutritious too!

Can I do a juice cleanse if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

It is not recommended to undertake a juice cleanse if you are pregnant or breast feeding. While detoxing your body will be releasing built up toxins, these may be harmful to your baby.

Why do your juices have a shelf life of only 3-5 days once defrosted?

This is because we believe in giving you the highest form of nutrition. Our cold pressed juices aren’t treated with HPP (HPP stands for High Pressure Pascalization, and it’s a method used to extend the shelf life of juice—and save money). Because we believe that fresh is best, we don’t use artificial means to extend the life of a product for our benefit. After all, our only ingredients are fresh fruits and vegetables. You wouldn’t keep a cucumber for 3 weeks, would you? Any juice that claims it is “fresh”, but lasts that long on the shelf, just doesn’t add up.

How will I know what to do during my juice cleanse?

Will juicing make me lose weight?

While many people do observe a drop in their weight once they start incorporating juices into their diet, we do not guarantee weight loss though. Juicing is a great way to start incorporating healthier habits into your life, but your weight depends on a variety of factors, such as your general diet, exercise patterns, gender, age, hormonal fluctuations or any pre-existing medical conditions. No diet is an overnight quick fix. In fact, the word “diet” means “way of life”

Are your juices vegan / vegetarian friendly?

At NutriVita, we are vegan and vegetarian friendly, meaning 90% of our food does not contain meat or diary products. However, we do have a small amount of non-vegan/vegetarian products in order to be able to cater for all our customers. We do offer vegan friendly alternatives to all of these products. Are your juices Halaal or Kosher?

Our products are not certified Halaal or Kosher.

Aren't your juices full of sugar?

The only sugars in our product, are those that naturally occur in the raw products we use. There are no added or refined sugars.

How often should I drink raw juice?

Every day! Cold-pressed juices are made only with raw fruit and vegetables, so drinking them is a fantastic way of getting in your daily vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant requirements. You can count on the nutrient value of about a kilogram of fresh produce into one 500ml juice! We encourage you to add a juice or two to your day as meal or snack. During a Juice Cleanse all meals are replaced with juices/smoothies and you consume approx. 6-8 juices in a day.

How many juices can I drink in a day?

The recommended amount of fruits and vegetables servings is between 5-9 per day- of different colour varieties (think Drink Your Rainbow). As each juice contains an average nutrient value of about 1kg of fresh and raw produce, you can easily use juice as a great way to drink your daily required servings.

What about water? How much should I be drinking?

It is important to stay hydrated in normal circumstances. Drinking roughly 2 litres of water a day is ideal for the average adult. More should be consumed if you are exercising in order to replenish the body. When on a juice cleanse, it is important to stay hydrated. Drinking the same amount of water as you do juice is ideal. The reason for this is that juices hold a high concentration of nutrients and the body needs water in order to carry these effectively around the body. Staying hydrated can aid to weight loss, reduce headaches or stress and tension, keep you feeling energized and improve overall health.

What about water? How much should I be drinking?

It is suggested that you drink your juice on an empty stomach, so that it may absorb all the nutrients properly, and prepare your body for better absorption throughout the rest of the day. For some, this means drinking a juice before breakfast, for others it may mean drinking several juices throughout the day in place of regular meals (as is done with a juice cleanse). Many people don’t know this, but the timing of your meals can have a huge effect on your health. Your sleeping patterns, your energy levels, and weight management to name a few. Our bodies don’t always absorb all the nutrients in our food effectively, especially when our immune or digestive systems are under strain. For example, if you eat fatty/oily/sugary food first thing in the morning, your system might struggle to properly absorb nutrients during the rest of the day.

Will drinking juice break my fast?

In short, the answer is ‘YES’. Drinking any juice at all, or anything containing more than a few calories will bring you out of the fasted state. If you are serious about this then stick to water, black coffee, and herbal teas.

Who should NOT do a juice cleanse?

Juice cleanses should not be done by young children or the very elderly, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, diabetics, people with advanced kidney, heart and liver problems, people with a history of eating disorders.
