What To Do Before You Cleanse?

Consult your doctor

It is important to check with your doctor that It Is safe for you to do a cleanse, should you be on any chronic medication, have any pre-existing medical conditions, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Eliminate toxic substances

If you are doing a 1 Day cleanse, try to avoid all caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes or any other harmful/illegal substances at least 24 hours before you start your cleanse. Should you be doing a longer cleanse, it is advised that you do this for at least 3 days before you start.

Eat “clean”

It is suggested that you try to eliminate processed foods, fast food, artificial sweeteners, meat, dairy and sugars from your diet for at least 24 hours before you start your cleanse. We recommend that you try eat fruits and vegetables, salads, nuts, beans and other vegetarian or vegan based meals.

Hydrate

Staying hydrated is essential in moisturizing skin, having regular bowel movements and in neutralizing the high acidity levels in our body. Your body might experience feelings associated with a detox (headaches, fatigue, sluggishness, dehydration etc.) So it is important to drink up! We recommend at least 1 litre of water per 25kg of weight i.e. If you weigh 75kg = 3 litres of water

Poop (Yes, poop!)

To promote a healthy colon and to prepare the body for the cleanse, we recommend that you empty the bowel before your cleanse.

What To Do During The Cleanse?

Drink warm lemon water

This is an incredible liver stimulant and it helps begin the cleansing process before you even take a sip of that first juice. Once getting into the habit of it during your cleanse, you might find that it is something that you want to continue to do post-cleanse. In addition to drinking your allotment of water, we have also included herbal teas into your  cleanse plan.

Keep hydrated

Being fully hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your body, as water is necessary for all basic functions, and we naturally lose about 2l a day. Many common ailments like lack of energy, headaches and hunger pangs are actually signs of dehydration, so drink up for better health.

Stay consistent

Aim to drink a juice every 2 to 2.5 hours. 7 juices a day might sound like a lot but if you space your juices out over 12 hours, your body will thank you. Skipping juices will likely leave you feeling hungry and can result in a drop in your blood sugar, which can leave you feeling lethargic and maybe even give you a headache.

Dry brush

This probably sounds crazy since juicing is all about cleaning you internally but dry brushing your skin daily during your cleanse will help get rid of dead skin and open your pores for the elimination process.

Exercise, but listen to your body

Exercise promotes circulation, helps boost your metabolism and is a great way to connect with your body during your cleanse. Your energy levels can change and be a bit unpredictable during a cleanse so you may want to limit yourself to light exercise like walks, yoga, and stretching.
